Early days in the South Wales Group
In late spring 1983, Andrew Clabon organised a meeting that was
attended by four members of the LDWA in South Wales (Andrew Clabon,
Nick Kaye, Alan Fox and Gerry Jackson). The South Wales
group of the LDWA was then started and the following
programme of walks appeared in Strider numbers 36 & 37 in August
& December 1983. The accompanying photographs were
taken by Nick Kaye.
Sunday September 25 1983,
Inaugural Walk. Heights of the Lower Rhymney Valley.
23 miles. Meet at (GR 156853) Map 171 on A469; large
gravel parking area on east side of road before descent
into Caerphilly. 9.0 a.m. Leader Nick Kaye.
