Where Ravens Dare Challenge
Saturday 16th October
15.5 and 25.5 mile routes
A visually spectacular autumnal walk of either 25.5 or 15.5 miles
in the eastern valleys of South Wales. The walk will go onto open moorland
and through and above ancient woodlands. Views of The Breacon Beacons, the
South Wales Valleys, Exmoor and the ancient forest of Wentwood will be experienced
on this newly created route that will take walkers to Mynydd Machen, Twmbarlwm,
Mynydd Maen and Mynydd y Lan.
This new event for 2010 is organised by the South Wales Group of the Long Distance
Walkers Association and is open to non-LDWA members.
Directions to the start at Machen Village Hall
From junction 28 on the M4 - A467
north for 0.6 miles to 1st roundabout - 2nd left onto A468 (Caerphilly)
to 2nd roundabout - 1st left keeping on A468 for 4.5 miles to Machen -
soon after yellow pub/restaurant turn left into Forge Road (if you reach
the pelican crossing by the school, you`ve gone too far) - at end of
Forge Road before the bridge over the river, turn right into The
Crescent - Machen Village Hall is on your right.
